I’m a project accountant. I assist in recording and maintaining financial data including budgets, payments, and reports. 2)How many years of experience do you have in your field?I’m going into my third year of working in accounting.3)What do you love the most about your career?I like seeing the results and working with numbers & data every day. I also enjoy the variety of tasks and responsibilities that come with my position including collaborating with coworkers. 4)Why did you choose to work for JLAM? What year did you join the team?I joined the team in June. I chose JLAM because I wanted to work for a company that I can be proud of—and JLAM has a great reputation for developing amazing projects. 5)What's your favorite part about working for JLAM?JLAM is a supportive work environment. Everyone works together to ensure we’re performing at our best, and this collaborative atmosphere allows me to contribute meaningfully to the team. 6)What is one thing people need to know about JLAM they may not know already?JLAM takes extreme pride in their work, and it motivates their employees to do the same. Since joining the team, I’m impressed with how dedicated everyone is to the company and how much pride they take in their work. 7)What do you do for fun outside of work? If I'm not at the beach or spending time with my chocolate lab, Hershey, my favorite thing to do is go to Philly sporting events!8)If you could eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?I’m a carb lover, so probably pasta because it has so many variations. 9)Where is your favorite place in the world and why?Anywhere near a beach! The beach is a happy place of mine and working in downtown Rehoboth a few blocks from the ocean is incredible. 10)What’s one thing people should know about you that they may not?I love to binge TV shows and listen to podcasts. #meettheteam #realestatedevelopment #realestateinvestment

Yesterday, we had our book club, where our team reads a book designed to help us grow personally and professionally. This time, we read Simon Sinek's Start With Why. Sinek provides excellent insights on what differentiates some of the world's best companies from their competitors, why some leaders can inspire loyalty & drive performance, and how we can apply these learnings to our lives. JLAM Tips and Tricks: Set aggressive but realistic schedules. A schedule that's rushed and doesn’t account for unknown—but anticipated—delays sets up an unlikely product delivery. This can cause the leasing team to start leasing too early, which then causes move-ins before you have a minimum viable product.Failure to meet a CO can create havoc for residents/tenants, who have now moved out of their existing homes and terminated leases. If the CO isn’t achieved, we can’t provide them with a new place to call home, creating an extremely negative experience.Therefore, create a CO date that anticipates problems happening but still over-delivers. If the CO date is close, all hands are on deck to finish a quality project, and the residents will have a pleasant first experience when they move into their new home.Thanks to Ryan Mitchell for the tip!#realestatedevelopment #realestateinvestments#tipsandtricks
