Destiny 2: Final Shape Prep Guide! - Huskyboost.com (2024)

What is up, guys? It’s Librarian Husky, and today, you did it again, didn’t you, gamer? You were playing a little too much Hell Divers 2, and now you only have one week left until the Final Shape expansion releases for Destiny 2. Well, don’t worry because I’ve got you covered. We’re going to be going over a ton of different tips that you can do during this final week to give you a massive advantage when the Final Shape comes out. Have all your friends who didn’t do this stuff going, “Wait, you’re already day one raid ready?” So, let’s get started.

First off, some of you may be thinking, “Wait a minute, we have more than a week, much more.” Well, that’s where you might be wrong. As you can see right here, there’s going to be 24 hours of downtime before the Tuesday reset time when Final Shape comes out, so you won’t be able to play all of Monday. So, you really do only have from this Sunday until next Sunday. Yeah, so you better get started now.

Bounty Preparation Tips

First of all, let’s talk about Bounty prep. We’re going to go over this section quickly because it’s the most common type of prep. However, there’s a big change this time around that you want to be aware of, and Bounty prep is going to be extremely important to do because the Final Shape raid comes out the first Friday, only three days after the release of the expansion. So, this is going to matter a lot.

Now, what Bounty prep is, is simply completing a Bounty but not actually clicking on it to turn it in. So, you just have the completed bounties sitting there in your quest screen, and that means you can wait to turn them in when the Final Shape comes out, and you gain a huge boost of experience right in that new season. You level up your seasonal artifact really quickly; you gain access to those new artifact perks. It’s very advantageous.

So importantly, you want to prioritize bounties as following: weekly bounties are going to give the most experience, then you have daily bounties, and last, you have repeatable bounties. Now, there’s not too many sources of weekly bounties left in the game.

Weekly Bounty Sources

Here’s where you can find them: first of all, the Dreaming City. Now importantly, for the Dreaming City, when you’re talking to Petra, the Ascendant Challenge weekly bounty will actually reset every single week because.

Weekly Bounty Tips

It’s different Ascendant challenges, so if you actually do this weekly bounty before reset, you can actually grab another one after the reset, so keep that in mind. After that, you also have the Cosmodrome, Shaan’s weekly bounties.

You then have Europa, two weekly bounties there. On the Moon, these two weekly bounties they actually don’t say they give experience, but they definitely do. And remember, you have another two weekly bounties also on the Moon at the Lectern of Enchantment.

After that, Neomuna has one weekly bounty. You want to grab Starhorse; you can grab a big bounty from him, the gold one, and if you can’t do that, the silver ones are good too. Then, you have a bunch of Clan bounties that are all technically weekly bounties in the experience they give.

Resource Management

Now, after you’re done with that, fill the rest of your slots with daily bounties. However, you need to avoid any ritual bounties, so no strike bounties, no Crucible bounties, no Vanguard bounties. This is because Bungie is updating the ritual reward system with the new Pathfinder system. There will be no more Gambit bounties, for example; they will be removed from your inventory. So, do not stock up on any ritual bounties when you’re bounty prepping.

Moving on from Bounty prep, let’s talk about some resource management. First of all, you need to spend all of your legendary shards if possible. Legendary shards are being completely removed from your inventory in the Final Shape, and you are getting nothing in return. So, if you have 30,000 legendary shards, you’re getting zero.

Exchanging Resources

Unfortunately, at the start of the season, Bungie changed a lot of the things that originally cost legendary shards to cost other resources, so there really isn’t too much to spend your legendary shards on. When Xur comes this weekend, definitely buy pretty much everything Xur has, because why not?

Another big tip, however, when it comes to spending those legendary shards, is Phantasmal Fragments on the Moon. You can exchange 10 legendary shards for a Phantasmal Fragment. Although this is a horrible exchange rate normally, you can take these Phantasmal Fragments and go to the Cryptarch to get Glimmer out of them. This is a very inefficient, but better than nothing way of turning your legendary shards into potential Glimmer, which will, of course, still be a relevant resource.

Now, after that, another good thing to stock up on is raid banners. These just straight cost legendary shards, and unfortunately, you can only have a stack of 100, and then it’s going to make another stack. But hey, might as well just completely stock up on raid banners before this stuff is removed.

Exotic Ciphers in Final Shape

So, if you’re like me, you haven’t cared about exotic ciphers in a while. However, it was just revealed that within the Final Shape, you can actually take a fully masterworked exotic armor piece and upgrade it with an exotic cipher to have an artifice mod slot. So, you can put those free, like three stat boost artifice mods, now in exotic armor pieces. Zur is still here for a couple more days at the time of making this, and he’s coming one more time. He can actually sell you the quest to go get exotic ciphers, so definitely something to have going into the Final Shape.

Maximizing Exotic Engrams

Moving on from there, guys, another thing you really want to stock up on is actually exotic engrams. Seriously, you want to have a full engram slot, every single slot filled with exotic engrams going into the Final Shape if possible. Now, why is that? Well, Bungie revealed that within the Final Shape, the Cryptarch is getting an overhaul, and the Cryptarch will actually become a vendor that you’re going to gain experience points by decrypting engrams at.

They specifically said that in order to get the new exotic armor pieces, you need to fully rank up the Cryptarch at least once. So, you basically need to max out your Cryptarch reputation rank, and then reset your rank, and then you’re going to be able to gain access to the brand-new Final Shape exotic armor pieces.

Strategic Engram Management

So again, they mentioned that exotic engrams would give you the most experience, and I think they even specifically said that if you have an inventory full of exotic engrams, that’s going to be pretty much enough to rank them out fully at one time within the Final Shape. This also leads into another tip. If you have exotic engrams within your season pass, don’t claim them now; claim them in the Final Shape to actually get experience from them.

Now, if you’re thinking, “Wait a minute, I have to claim them now because the season’s pass goes away, and we’re going to get a new season’s pass in the Final Shape,” well, that’s actually not the case. It turns out if you go to bungie.net, you can actually gain access to the previous seasons’ pass. This means it’s actually better to keep all the stuff you haven’t claimed in your season’s pass for potentially using in the next season, like for example, the armor.

Strategic Armor Withdrawal

When you withdraw armor, it’s going to be your exact light level. You can use that in the Final Shape. If you’re really low on a helmet, your helmet is lagging behind in terms of light level, everything else is higher than your helmet, well, you can go on bungie.net, go to the previous season, and if you left your helmet from last season, you can grab it. It goes, it’s your exact light level, and it’ll likely be a boost in terms of leveling. Very importantly, this also works with Deep Site Harmonizers. So, I’m saving every single Deep Site Harmonizer in my season’s pass because I’m going to claim them in the Final Shape and use them to unlock Final Shape raid weapon patterns.

Prepping for Final Shape Raid Weapons

Right, so that’s another huge thing you want to leave in your season’s pass, guys. Now, speaking about Final Shape raid weapons, another resource you may want to stock up on is Spoils of Conquest, especially with Pantheon being a relevant activity right now. If you squeeze a Pantheon completion in this week, you’re going to be getting spoils and at the end, you can interact with a Pantheon vendor and buy raid weapons from across many different raids.

However, you could actually save those spoils because they will likely still be the raid currency next season in the Final Shape. You can use those spoils then on brand new Final Shape raid weapons if you want to. That’s at least what I’m doing.

Utilizing Starhorse Reward Boxes

Now, one more thing you may want to stock up on is the Starhorse reward boxes. These boxes come from D of Eternity and spending your Strange Coins on Starhorse, and they will actually give you gear. In the past, when we’ve had a big level jump, like when we’ve had a new soft cap, that means any loot you’re getting is going to progress you towards that soft cap in terms of light level.

So, people have stocked up on hundreds of these Starhorse boxes and then just spammed them all to get to the soft cap like 2 seconds after the new expansion drops. However, if you are doing the legendary campaign, you get so much loot from the legendary campaign, and then you get a guaranteed high power level armor set at the end of it, you probably won’t need to do.

Final Prep: Understanding Buffs and Nerfs

This but I just thought I would mention it, and then guys, moving on from there, the last thing you’re going to want to do to prep is just learn about the buffs and the nerfs. Over the past couple of weeks, Bungie has announced massive sandbox changes, and I’ve done articles on all of these. The first announcement was the weapon buffs and nerfs. The big winner here is pulse rifles. Pulse rifles are going to be doing something like 30 to 40% more damage against red bars; they are going to be shredding. So, if you have good pulse rifles that you like, take them out of your vault, infuse them up, get them ready to use within the Final Shape.

Updates to Abilities

Next up, we have some big buffs and nerfs to abilities. Those include a nerf to Well of Radiance, a nerf to the Titan bubble, a big nerf to the Berserker Titan, and how much melee damage you’re going to be doing. All that stuff is very relevant and important to know going into the Final Shape.

Adjustments to Armor

Lastly, guys, we have the buffs and nerfs to armor, like exotic armor. Some important ones to note are the Nerf to Senot Mask for the Warlock. You’re not going to be able to run multiple Warlocks and get heavy for everyone. The Sunbracers also for the Warlock are getting a nerf and stuff like that. So, more important stuff to know if you’re planning on making loadouts for the Final Shape.
