Best mobile phone deal
Samsung Galaxy S24 FE
* Average price in the past six months:£624.Cheapest price in the past six months:£499
- 6.7-inch screen
- Three rear cameras with 8K video recording
- Seven years of support from launch
We like:Big screen with high resolution
We don't like:No wireless charging
This is the cheapest phone in Samsung's flagship phone range for 2024. It was only released in October 2024 but is already seeing superb deals at some retailers. It has encouraging specs including a 10-core Exynos 2400e processor with 8GB of Ram, and three rear cameras including a telephoto lens to improve the clarity of close-up pictures. It's also the cheapest phone that comes with Galaxy AI - a suite of tools that use AI to improve processes. Also, you can edit people out of photographs and AI will fill in the gap and remaster shots.

- Intel Ultra 7 processor
- 16GB of Ram
- 16-inch screen
We like: It has lots of ports
We don't like: The screen could be better
This is a powerful, large laptop with sufficient specs – including 16GB Ram – to futureproof it for years to come.
Its giant 1TB SSD should mean you don't have to worry about running out of storage space. It weighs 1.72kg, making it reasonably portable to carry around, despite its larger screen.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+
* Average price in the past six months£965.Cheapest price in the past six months:£649.

We don’t like:It's big so not especially comfortable to hold for long periods
It’s the middle child in Samsung's S9 range, which includes the 11-inch S9 and the 14.6-inch S9 Ultra. This model, the S9+, has a 12.6-inch screen, which means it’s one of the bigger tablets around. The screen’s 1,848 x 2,960 resolution means it’s a 2K screen that’s sharper than HD.
It charges via USB-C and the cable you need is included, but you’ll need to supply your own plug. You get a stylus though, which is nice, especially if you fancy doing some art.

We like:TheHDR is expertly executed
We don't like:The body of the TV rattles a bit at some frequencies
The QE48S90D is Samsung’s first 48-inch OLED TV. It’s not alone in making smaller OLEDs though, and faces stiff competition from LG, Panasonic and Sony.
Still, Samsung certainly has the pedigree to make the best 48-inch OLED of 2024 and, characteristically of the manufacturer's range, this model has plenty of good accessibility features.

We like: Delivered rolled up, so it can be carried up stairs more easily
We don't like: High memory effect - which some may not like
If you're after a simple, basic foam mattress, the Silentnight Just Snug is on offer at Land of Beds at the moment for less than £300. It might just be the ticket for a decent night's sleep.
Despite being made of foam, it's rated 'average warmth' to lie on which is great news if you tend to overheat easily. The cover isn't removable for washing, though.

Haier HDPW5618DWPK
* Average price in the past six months:£531. Cheapest price in the past six months:£459.
- Freestanding
- Frost-free freezer
- Stainless steel finish
We like:Its vegetable drawer keeps salad crisp and fresh
We didn't like: The fridge compartment has a few hard-to-reach areas that could become dirt traps if you don't tackle spillages promptly.
This spacious Haier has room for 12 grocery bags. It offers fast cooling and freezing – useful when you've just added a large batch of shopping.
You can change the humidity of the fruit and veg drawer according to what you're storing (some fruit and veg last longer in higher humidity while others prefer drier conditions). This worked well in our tests.
Over the past six months, the price of this fridge freezer has fluctuated so if you're in no hurry, you're likely to see it for £459 again soon.

Watch out for sneaky tricks
Some retailers use underhand tactics to pressure you into making a purchase.
These include anchor pricing (when products are on sale more often than they aren’t), pressure selling (‘30 people are viewing this right now!’) and dubious claims about the ‘before’ price of a product.
If you’re unsure how good a deal is, check our reviews for a selection of prices at different retailers or use a tool such as PriceRunner to compare prices across retailers.
Research customer reviews
It’s always a good idea to read reviews before you buy a product, but not all are trustworthy.
Some sellers incentivise people to post fake positive reviews to drown out genuine negative ones. If you’re in any doubt, check our expert guide on how to spot a fake review.
Returning goods
Whether you bought a product in-store or online, you still have rights under the Consumer Contract Regulations.
The regulations give you a 14-day window to return a non-faulty product, which begins on the day you receive your goods. Many retailers will give you longer than this, but it’s always best to check before you buy.
We’ve put together advice in our online returns guide on the additional rights you have when shopping online.
