# If manga, comics, visual novels, or reading in general, or the melodramatic stuff isn’t your thing...
I don’t think this mod is what you’re looking for.
If you’re as weird as I am, I hope you like it !
o( ̄▽ ̄)d
-----------------------------------------------------
This is a Raw old-style .xnb mod. Make a backup of your Data\Events folder with you .xnb files in case you don't like it.
FAQ: ... so yes ll(7 - 7)ll you have to copy-paste the files there.
... My goal is to create .json files (individual files for each character overhaul or even for this entire mod), but I haven’t yet mastered SMAPI or Content Patcher to that level. However, I have successfully edited the XNB files for all of Abigail’s events, so I’ll stick with that method for now.
-----------------------------------------------------
... This mod started as a mod to overhaul Abigail's personality. As I can only edit .xnb files only, if i want to overhaul more characters, I can't mix them up in many xnb files... so I'll make it an entire overhaul, giving updates as I wrote at least 4 events for one character. ...
----Currently, I'm focusing on developing a narrative mod...-----
For example I plan to give Abigail a stronger but introverted personality. Instead of waiting to be 'rescued' by the player—and even though I love Stardew Valley and all its characters—I feel it could be fun to give her more depth. She’ll be more introverted, somewhat of a bookworm, feeling desolate and uncertain about her future, condemned to be free in a deeply materialistic world, living in the shadow of her parents. They don’t understand that she’s happy simply working in the shop with her father, where she feels useful serving the people of the small town she lives in, as opposed to the desolation of living in the city, surrounded by strangers and leading an insignificant life.
-----------------------------------------------------
-...Are you suggesting that I want to install a mod that alters my precious vanilla Abigail into a melodramatic version?
How can I know if it’s worth spending my valuable time on this ####?
-----------------------------------------------------
This is an example of a random, fictional event featuring two characters talking, so you can get a sense of my narrative style and see if you like it. I prefer doing this because if I give away spoilers from the actual events in the mod, it would defeat the purpose of downloading it, as you wouldn’t be able to enjoy it, creating a paradox that goes beyond fiction. ll(◎﹏◎)ll

-Example 1
----
-Lila-
(Lila is sitting on a rock in a clearing in the woods, sketching in her notebook. When the player approaches, she looks up with a smile.)
Lila: -Oh, hey there! I didn’t notice you. I was just sketching the trees and trying to capture how peaceful it is here.-
(She glances at her notebook and then leans back, enjoying the fresh air.)
-You know, sometimes I wonder if my art really matters. It’s just lines on paper, but it feels like... a way to connect with the world, you know?-
(She pauses for a moment, thoughtful, gazing up at the sky.)
-Art can be so much like life—full of vibrant colors, shadows, and the occasional mistake that turns out beautiful. But sometimes, I feel like I’m just creating for the sake of it, like I’m stuck in a loop.-
(She crosses her arms, her expression turning more serious.)
-I often feel like I’m living in the expectations of my family. They want me to pursue something 'practical'—a job that pays the bills and looks good on paper.-
-But what about what I really want? I want to create, to express myself... not just follow a path that was laid out for me.-
(She bites her lip, a mix of frustration and longing in her eyes.)
-Here, in this little town, I see how my art brings a bit of joy to people. But in a big city, everyone seems to be chasing after the same thing, and it’s harder to feel like what I do makes a difference. I just want to find a way to combine what I love with something that feels meaningful.-
(Lila looks at you, her expression softening as she smiles.)
-Anyway, thanks for listening to my rambling. It’s nice to talk to someone who doesn’t mind my... deep thoughts. What do you think it takes to truly find your passion?-
(Lila leans back against the rock, waiting for your response, feeling a bit lighter after sharing her feelings.)

Example 2
-----
(Lila sits on the edge of a cliff overlooking the valley, her sketchbook resting in her lap. The mood is heavy as she stares out at the horizon, lost in thought. When the player approaches, she looks up slowly, her eyes reflecting a hint of sadness.)
Lila: -Oh... it’s you. I didn’t notice you there.-(--She forces a small smile--)-I was just thinking about how beautiful everything looks up here, yet... it feels so empty sometimes.-(She sighs deeply, turning her gaze back to the valley.)
-You know, I used to believe that if I worked hard enough, I could create something that would make me feel whole. But lately, it just feels like I’m chasing shadows... like I’m trying to grasp something that keeps slipping away.-
(Her voice trembles slightly---)-I don’t think anyone truly sees me for who I am. They see the art, the sketches... but not the person behind them. Sometimes it’s like I’m just... invisible.-(Lila pauses, biting her lip as her emotions swell.)
-I’ve been feeling this emptiness inside, this sense of isolation. Everyone around here seems to have their lives figured out—jobs, families, dreams. And here I am, still trying to find my way, feeling like I don’t belong.-
(She hugs her sketchbook tightly, as if seeking comfort.)-It’s hard to admit, but... I wonder if I’ll ever find my place in this world. Will my art ever really matter to anyone? Or will it just fade away, like so many things I’ve tried to hold onto?-(Her eyes glisten with unshed tears as she looks back at you, her expression earnest and raw.)
-I’m sorry for unloading all this on you. I didn’t mean to bring the mood down. It’s just... I hope I can find some meaning in all this chaos. Thank you for listening. It’s nice to talk to someone who seems to care.-(Lila looks down, a hint of vulnerability in her smile, grateful yet still feeling the weight of her thoughts.)
-----
Example 3
-----
(Lila and the player sit on a blanket in a flower-filled clearing, surrounded by the gentle glow of the full moon. A picnic basket filled with homemade treats sits between them, and they’ve just finished their meal.)
Lila: This is really nice, you know? I didn’t expect a picnic under the stars to feel this... magical.
(She takes a deep breath, looking up at the moonlight filtering through the trees.)-It’s like everything here slows down. Back in the city, I could never find a moment to breathe. I was always rushing from one shift to another, just trying to make ends meet.-(She glances at you, her eyes reflecting the moonlight.)
-Honestly, I was so busy just surviving that I never really had the chance to paint. I’d come home exhausted, and all I could think about was collapsing into bed. My art felt like a distant dream, something I couldn't reach.-
(Lila shakes her head, a small frown appearing.)-And even the friends I made back then... they never really understood me. It felt more like I was just another face in the crowd. It was lonely, you know?-(She smiles softly, her tone turning lighter.)
-But here, it’s different. I feel like I can actually focus on what matters. Like I can find my inspiration again, surrounded by all this beauty. I can just... be myself.-
(She looks down at her hands, fiddling with the edges of the blanket.)-You make it easy to forget all that noise. With you, I can actually talk about what I love without feeling judged or out of place.-(Lila meets your gaze, her expression earnest.)
-I don’t want to just exist; I want my life to mean something. I want to create things that resonate with others. It’s hard to explain, but being here with you feels... significant. Like I’m not just drifting anymore.-(She leans in a little closer, her voice dropping to a softer tone.)
-And I can’t help but think that this—us—could be something special. I mean, look at us: an artist and a farmer, finding our way in this little town. It’s like we’re crafting our own stories together.-
(She smiles, a hint of shyness creeping in.)-Isn’t it funny how life works out sometimes?-(Lila pauses, her heart racing as she takes a breath.)
-So... if I kissed you right now, what would you say? Would you think it’s too soon? Or maybe... just maybe, you’d be okay with it?-
(She bites her lip, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.)-I really like being here with you, and I’d love to see where this goes.-(Her gaze lingers on your lips for a moment, the atmosphere filled with unspoken words as she waits for your response, the night wrapping around them like a warm embrace.)
